a few good movies: While You Were Sleeping (1995)

Lucy is Peter’s fiancée. Except she isn’t, and his brother Jack knows it. And now Lucy is falling for Jack…

A charming, wintery tale of family, loneliness and romance starring Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman.

Lucy (Sandra Bullock) is a lonely train ticket collector who secretly harbors a crush on a handsome commuter named Peter Callaghan (Peter Gallagher). When Peter is mugged and pushed onto the train tracks, Lucy dives onto them to save his life. At the hospital, where Peter lies in a coma, a casual comment by Lucy is misinterpreted by a nurse and Peter’s family, who end up assuming that she is his fiancée.

Overwhelmed by loneliness during the festive season and touched by the warmth of Peter’s family, Lucy doesn’t have the heart to correct them, and she becomes a fixture in their holiday traditions.

Complications arise however when Lucy finds herself growing close to - and maybe falling in love with - Peter’s grounded and skeptical brother, Jack (Bill Pullman).

While You Were Sleeping is an effortlessly charming, wintery tale of family, loneliness and romance. Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman have incredible chemistry and the film is peppered with humour throughout, making this the perfect seasonal film to treat yourself too!
